Introducing Productive 5.0: Less Admin, More Real Work
Our landmark release brings AI into the operational layer to take care of work you never wanted to do in the first place.
Productive 5.0 is out and it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever shipped.
It’s been a very intense year for the tech industry, the most intense one I’ve seen so far, and I’ve been in this business for over twenty years. Work is changing fast. We’ve spent the last year rebuilding our platform around that, and Productive 5.0 is our answer.
New Productive, Same Goal
Productive runs the projects, people, and finances for thousands of agencies. We’ve shipped a lot of releases along the way.
This one is different. It’s not just a feature drop. It changes how you actually use Productive, and what the platform handles on its own.
What’s New?
- Agents. Custom AI agents that handle entire tasks or work areas autonomously, within the limits you define.
- Skills. Your team’s expertise and processes, made reusable across the company.
- AI Notetaker. Joins your meetings, captures the discussion, and turns action items into tasks.
- AI Timetracking. Timesheets fill themselves in from the work you actually did.
- Connectors. Pull data from the tools you already use into Productive, and push data back out. Works with GitHub, Notion, Atlassian, and more.
- MCP Server support. Any AI system that speaks MCP can connect to Productive.
Why Did We Build This?
Everyone has AI today. You can add a chatbot to a spreadsheet. You can put a “generate with AI” button next to any input field. That’s not what we did here.
We spent a lot of time on the simpler question. Where does AI actually make work better, and where does it just get in the way?
What we found, talking to the people who use Productive every day, was consistent. They don’t want AI taking the parts of the job they actually enjoy. They definitely don’t want it handling client relationships or creative decisions, the things that need judgement and trust.
What they want is for AI to take the operational load. The work that has to happen, but doesn’t need to happen by humans. Project updates, data retrieval, report generation, the hundred small things that fill the day between the work that actually matters.
So that’s what we built.
