Business Development at Productive
When I was looking for a job, I knew I wanted to work in sales, in an international environment. That’s exactly what I do now. I work with potential and existing customers, from the US to Australia.
My Job
I’m a Business Development Representative at Productive. That means I’m in charge of acquiring new customers that will use the tool and follow them in their journey as users.
Disclaimer: To demystify the common misconception about salespeople—I don’t randomly call people on the phone and try to sell them Productive. I mostly work with inbound leads, people who signed up for a Productive trial on their own. My job is to have an educated conversation with them and figure out if we’re a good fit.
These days, clients reach out to me in need of advice on how to run their business in a more efficient way, make their projects more profitable, or how to organize and track their operations.
My Path to SaaS
Ever since I was kid, I had very strong soft skills so most of my teachers in school thought I’d end up in politics, but I didn’t like the “behind the scenes” of it. After getting a Masters degree in Business, I did an internship teaching International Business students in Colombia. That was an incredibly enriching experience that I was totally unprepared for. It was a good kick-off for what would come next—a career in a tech start-up I knew nothing about.

My Typical Day
My typical day revolves around calls with both new and existing customers. The presentation I give is never the same because agencies are looking to solve different business challenges, which I need to identify. My job is to have an educated conversation with them and see if we’re a good fit.
The Team
Everyone is really welcoming towards new team members and devoted to their work. I feel like I can really rely on them. There are no big egos on the team, we’re ready to improve the processes and product itself, even if it means changing a feature you created on your own.
Why Productive?
I love the fact that I get to see the benefits that our customers get out of Productive first-hand. Seeing the results of training customers is always so rewarding! Helping make their business more efficient using our tool inspires me to do my best at work every day.
