Productive Monthly Updates: December
Last month, we laid a robust foundation for numerous new features we will introduce in 2024.
We’ve enhanced our overhead calculations to ensure your profitability reports are more accurate. Additionally, your project management will benefit from introducing Gantt charts for tasks.

Gantt View
Gantt charts allow you to visualize your project on a clear timeline. Each task is displayed in a chart, indicating its duration, helping you ensure timely project delivery. However, the timeline is just part of the picture. You can enhance it with:
- Milestones: Mark key project moments with simple visual indicators ◆
- Dependencies: Link tasks that are dependent on each other
- Colors: Paint your tasks based on their status and highlight the important ones
To use the Gantt view for your tasks, ensure they have assigned start and due dates. For more information, refer to this article.
New Overhead Calculations
We usually only think about a few internal costs, so knowing them and including them in your profit calculations is essential. That’s why we’ve improved our Overhead calculations to make them even more precise.
Now, you can define which costs make up the total overhead cost. If you want to add or exclude a specific cost, click on the field and toggle it on or off.
You can also check the numbers from the calculation: If you click on More details, you’ll see a report explaining the calculation’s value. For example, if you need help determining where the cost from Expenses came from, Productive will take you straight to the report which will explain the calculation in detail.
Additionally, you can now track the costs of overtime and undertime, which is ideal for maintaining accurate utilization figures, and you can activate or deactivate overhead calculations for an entire month if necessary.

Time and Expense Tracking on Sales Deals
Are you managing a lengthy, costly sales deal? You can now track time and expenses against such deals using the same methods for tracking budgets, so there’s no learning curve.
Just make sure that the deal date is set to the correct period – i.e. you can’t track time in January for a sales deal that has it’s date set to May.
Organization Chart
Create a visual representation of (literally) who’s who in your agency. First, be sure to assign managers to your teammates, and then you’ll see a chart showing your agency’s internal structure. To set it up, check out this article.
